Looking for a special head unit
I have looked for days for a head unit that meets my needs, but i can not find such an animal. So before I just buy a unit that has way more features than I need, I thought I would ask. So let me explain what I am doing. I am building a RG with an after market inner fairing. It is made to house a iPad mini. It can be used for a double din, but I don't want that huge chassis in there. I want to save the room for a big amp. I was originally going to use the JL line booster to increase the voltage to the amp and have no head unit at all. The two problems with this is...I have no handlebar controls, and I have the less audio quality aux signal. So now I am thinking of buying a single din and mounting it vertically to stack the amp behind it so nothing is horizontal. All I want the head unit to do is be a line pass through from iPad to amps, but do this through USB. Here is what my wants are, and the first four are mandatory. And rest is what I'm looking for.
Rear USB
6 Preouts 4v or more
iPad mini 4 compatible
Handlebar control capable
Remote control
No cd player (save on size and moving parts)
No detachable face
Thanks for taking a look at this, but I feel it doesn't exist. Even if I drop the no detachable face, I can't find it. I even looked at some marine units that meet alot of the requirements, but obviously had no reason to be steering wheel control compatible. Thanks for any help!

You should check out Doug Bernards, he's the iPad car guru http://www.soundmanca.com/
I want to setup something like this too, was looking at using a https://navtv.com/products/NTV-KIT455/steerblue.html for controls for controls.

I hate to say this but oustide non detachable face ( good luck there) gen 2 Aquatic. They have a remote for other marine units that can be used for that. Thats what they told me when I had one.
Just thinking outside the box...
If lieu of an iPad (I know you're looking for a source unit now,) would it be feasible to use a Bluetooth -to- audio adaptor so you could run a "headless" solution and have full control from your phone? You'd still want to boost that signal though from the adaptor.

There are two reasons I went with the ipad mini fairing over the double din. First was to save room in the fairing for amps. Second was to run music video's and graphical displays. I don't like the way the double dins are only blank screen when playing a video. All other times, the screen shows all the icons. With an ipad when not playing a music video, I can display a color graphic display via several apps.
Like I said, the non-detachable face was a bonus, and not a requirement.
Trust me, if I have no other options, I will throw a Pioneer DEH80prs in there. I have one on my daily rider, and love it. I guess I was looking for a scaled down version of that HU. If I have to spend over $175 to get it though, I will throw another $75 and just get that one. I guess the size difference between a multi media unit would be the only thing that would be a plus then. Unfortunately, some manufacturers don't scale down the chassis size for these, and the one's that do only give 4 preouts and they are never over 2V.
