Default Cerwin Vega B52 and Diamond Audio Micro 2V2 are the Exact Same Amp!

I just purchased a Cerwin Vega B52 amp and a Diamond Audio Micro 2V2 amp for an audio upgrade project I'm doing on my 15 Ultra Limited. I received them both today. When I opened them up I realized they're the same amp! Different outer case but the controls are identical. Looked at the specs in the owners manuals and sure enough, identical. I also noticed that the manufacture address listed on the front page of both manuals is the same. here's the rub... I paid $299 at Americanhardbags.com for the Diamond Audio Micro 2V2 and $175 for the Cerwin Vega B52 from Woofers Etc on Ebay. An over $100 price difference! Is there something better about the Diamond Audio amp that I don't know about? Did everyone already know these are the same amp and I'm just late to the party?

Nice catch!

This is all old news. Many amps share common boards and chassis. The big difference is the qc and a few Components on the board are better and some very minor changes in output stage. Take the ppi 900.4 and hdp4. Basically same amp but hdp4 has a better sound.

Better heat sink and internals on the diamond amp, but yes they share the same mother company. I can't remember the specs of the 2v2 right off hand, only had it in my possession for a few days and never hooked it up, but I think the B52 has more power.

Not surprising after eyeballing both side by side. The Diamond amp looks nicer. I'm thinking Americanhardbags uses the Diamonds amps in their saddlebag kits because it dissipates heat better, which would be important inside an enclosed saddlebag with little to no air circulation.

Both owners manuals have the exact same specs and both are listed at 150x2 @ 4ohms.

Since I plan to use the Diamond amp in my saddlebag to power some 6x9 lid speakers and the Cerwin Vega in the tour-pak to power the rear TP pod speakers, I'm wondering if the CV amp will overheat? Not much airflow in the tour-pak either. Should I be worried about an amp overheating in the tour-pak on hot summer days tooling around with the volume cranked?

And here's the specs on the Diamond Audio Micro 2V2. Identical to the CV B52.
