Default Lower speaker question again...

I'm putting together a Christmas list and had a few more questions.

I have a 2012 Ultra Limited with a Kenwood receiver, Soundstream Pn4.1000D amp, and Infinity Kappa 62.11 speakers in the fairing and tourpak.

I was thinking of changing out the speakers and keeping the amp. I would like to add these speaker pods from Kerrys Cycle and maybe keep the Infinity Kappa speakers on one channel in the fairing. Would the Rockville RM64 Pros https://www.rockvilleaudio.com/rm64pro/ be good in the lowers and tourpak as they're 4 ohm or should I go with something else like Polk Audio MM652's? I'd like to keep the cost low but I also don't want to buy speakers a third time.

The speaker you are talking about has a very large magnet ans will be a tricky fit in a tp pod even with a spacer. They sound ok, but to me just ok. As far as lower faring fit, they might go there, it depends on what brand your lowers and speaker boxes are. They will probably sound ok there, the other thing to think about is that they are not weather treated from the factory, so that also needs to taken into account. Maybe look at ghe offerings from Mmats and DD, both siund good and come weather treated.

I got those same Fairing Factory lowers for my 2010 Ultra Classic. They fit OK after using a couple of washers as spacers on some of the screw holes putting them together (the screw holes weren't drilled very deep). I originally used AD 6.5s in them and had to grind out the lip of the hole with a Dremel to fit them in. The problem with them was their monster sized basket though, not the magnet. I then changed them out for some marine rated Mmats 601 four ohms and they dropped right in with no problem.

I really like the added sound. If you go with PA speakers though you will want some way to bandpass them. I think the low end of my Mmats was listed as 120Hz and the high end was 5000 Hz. To be honest they sounded just fine at full pass but when I set the high and low pass filters with my DSP the bass tightened up a little bit. I think that was due to what they call "beaming". If you don't want to use a DSP you can just set your high pass filter at 100Hz or so and use some FMODS from Harrison Labs to cap the high end: http://www.hlabs.com/products/crossovers/. Those things are the cats meow for cheap clean crossovers. I used to use them in the early 90s when a lot of amps didn't come with adjustable high pass crossovers like they do now.

The Polks MM651 I believe do well on the tour pack and if you have enough highs from your fairing speaks look at the Creacendo UN 6.5 for the lower. . And most speakers aren’t water proof but you can spray them with Camp Dry or something similar to help out with that.

I would try these Soundqubed 6.5, they sound great ! As far as weather proofing ,all you need is some scotch guard from your local hardware store.

So, I got the Soundqubed pro audio 6.5" speakers for Christmas along with the speaker pods from Kerry's Cycle. I got the pods mounted without a problem and tried the speakers in the garage. I think they sounded horrible. Maybe I was expecting too much or had a setting wrong on the amp. I have the Soundstream amp on full pass. I ended up taking the Kappas from the tourpack and putting them in the lowers and they sounded better. Back to the drawing board. I'll keep the Kappas until I make decision on what I want to do.

how did you have it wired up? the Kappa's are 2 ohm and the others are 4 ohm, so you can't really mix them up on the same channel, to keep the kappa's all on 2 channnes you are going to have to wire them up in series to get the load up to 4 ohms. you can't wire the kappas in parallel and keep it were the amp is stable. an additional amp to drive the lowers is most likely the best solution for you, maybe the SD250.2, or if you have room the SD400.4D Evo.
The main thing is that there is not an easy way to combine the different ohm loads to keep the amp happy. run the kappas on your current amp and add another to power the lowers.

I had the kappa on the front channel and the sound qubed on the rear. The tour pack wasn't hooked up.
