Default Sony 5000a install in Road glide

Hey guys, I am in the process of installing my Sony into my 17 RGS..everything is straight forward and no real issues other then I did notice a small gap around the inner fairing. Have any of you that have installed one of these units used anything to fill that void? Was thinking some narrow self adhesive foam or something along those lines...any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Did you use the metra kit to install it? These kits provide the bezel trim kit and wiring etc to make it look complete

Metra Sony 5000 Kit for 14-UP

I would call them since you pay a fortune for that kit. Are used fat head cycles kit and there was a gap on both sides and the bottom that I filled with some weatherstripping it looks good but it annoyed me that there was a gap

I did just that and they mentioned some things about spacers I may not have used. When I get home going to take a look and see.

Ashnic,
Try looking at the mounting bracket and see if its loose on the radio,,,, mine had tiny gap mating to the inner fairing as well. I loosened the mounting bracket on the radio and was able to adjust to fit the fairing and re tighten,,,, should be no gap, monkey with it you'll get it ,,, fits perfect for my 17 SGS,,,,got the full Sony XAV 5000 radio and Scosche kit from Volunteer Audio,,,,,,No issues

Had 2 shims that were included that I had not installed..put those on and fits perfect...What is everyone doing with the 2nd USB connection? Running it over in left glove box? I was thinking that would work and I could just leave my memory stick connected to it..

I ran both USBs to one glove box, have dedicated Tracfone on one for NAV and thumb drive on the other for music.
(Have both on right side, with keys and garage opener on left side, so I can open garage as I get close to driveway without having to stop)

Even with bezel, had narrow gap around HU. Just applied a little electrical tape before closing the fairing.
