am I over thinking frequency response?
Hi everyone....been reading a lot in here an I might be confusing myself from it! My current set up in my '14 street glide is a CV B52 amp, infinity Kappa speakers, stock head unit an bt line leveler. I guess I didn't read about the automatic volume control in time because my amp is cutting out now an then. I lose both speakers at once an the radio (4.3) doesn't change. I rode on some HOT days with the AVC on an I think that is what happened. I have a Arc ks 125.4 to swap in an I'm also thinking about different speakers since I don't know how those will respond an they can't be ran bridged since they're 2 ohm.
Two favorites I see on here are Mmatts an DBMOTO speakers...looking at their specs they don't seem to have very low freq response. I like a full sound an know I won't get thumping bass out of 2 6.5's but want a full warm sound I can hear at 80 mph. Would either of those be a good choice? I'm probably gonna run the Kappa's until the end of the riding season if they work. Maybe having the ability to respond to freqs as low as 45 doesn't matter in a 6.5 system....please enlighten me. Thanks.

Keep AVC off. Use high pass crossover around 100 hz. 45 is way too low and while the speakers may be capable of that, it's not practical for a motorcycle. The higher crossover point of 100 will help them play cleaner and louder.

Just because the "specs" say they play at 45, does not mean that play at 45 at full volume. My guess, if a 6.5 speaker spec'd as low was 45, it would only play that at a few watts, not 50 or 100 or 150. Like the rest of guys have stated, stay crossed around 100 to get undistorted sound!
If you're looking for 45 at full volume, better build some sealed bags for your sled!

I actually cross my fairing 6.5s at 85-90 but I'm not feeding them max watts. But ur correct 45 ain't gonna happen and even with moderate watts 85 would probably be the floor for damn near any fairing 6.5 speaker on a sled imho.

I think you meant to say mid range at a 100 especially from a 6.5 at 100 mph thatvall your gonna hear no matter what speaker it is.
I think it is more of what site you read for the break down on FZ's.
