speaker polarity problem
Well just changes bars figured i would check the gain setting with a test tone and a multimeter.Well big problem now I disconnected the speaker wires from the amp btw the way speaker wires are identical but one side has writing and one does not.I was talking to a bud and not paying attention pulled the wire off the amp and know i can't tell which is + and which is -.The speakers are in pods and do not wont to remove them,Is there a way to tell the polarity?Tried hooking them up one way and then the other and i cant tell the difference.I cant see the cone through the grill to see which way cone is moving. Is there any other way i can check the wiring?Thought maybe using a multi meter on dc volts if i have the polarity reversed would i not get a - on the multimeter?Thx in advance

For arguments sake, the side of the speaker wire with writing or a solid stripe is commonly used on the negative terminal. Being that you didn't do the install I'd not trust that and verify before moving forward.

If you can't do the 9v battery test, and you can't get to the speakers to see the polarity marking, there is another way, although it's a bit less scientific. If you have the polarity swapped on both speakers, then they are still "in phase", and they'll work just fine. If you have one or the other swapped, but not both, then the speakers are "out of phase."
If that's the case, then they'll sound like ****. The reason is that instead of both cones moving in and out together, one moves in and one moves out. Sounds like ***.
There ya go. Good luck!
