Default Tweeter/Horn connection question

I Would like to add tweeters/horns to my existing system.
2015 Street Glide

Radio:

Sony XAV-AX100

Speakers:

Fairing-PRVs 6MR500CF-NDY-4

Lowers-MMats 601

Bags-DD VO W8’s
Amps:

SoundStream PN4.1000D: Power speakers in fairing and lowers
I have a few questions that I need for guidance.
  1. Can I connect the tweeters to the extra channels on the JL amp?
  2. If so, where do I run the RCA’s to the radio? All the inputs/outputs are taken.
  3. Do I need or have to get a DSP to add tweeters/horns?
I’m not even sure if I’m asking the correct questions. LOL!
Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

Yes you need a dsp to tune the existing speakers you have. If you are adding horns/tweeters, keep in mind that most only require 75-100w to run them and they can only run 2500 htz and higher. So with that in mind a dsp will be your best bet. How do you have your setup wired to the amp now? If you are running the fairing/lowers in parallel off the front channels of your amp and the back off the tear channels then you are light on power. I suggest getting another amp to run the rear and run your fairing off the front of your amp, the lowers off the rear of that amp. A nvx vadm4 or similar bridged will run the rear speakers with no problem. Now if adding horns, you can run them with the fairing off that channel but will need some capacitors (bass blockers) in line with them to block low frequencies from blowing them.

If the mmats you are running are the pa 601cx coax speakers then I would run them in the fairing and put the prv’s in the lowers. That way to won’t need horns/tweeters and have your highs in the fairing.
Just my suggestion.

Im currently running two amps.(Forgot to list in the previous post.(JL JX400/4D) The Soundstream powers the lowers and the fairing speakers.( Not ran in parallel). The fairing amp has RCA inputs ran directly into the Sony HU. The JL amp is in the bag and it powers the 8's in the bags. The JL is connected to the Sony by an input as well.

Thanks,

Brian

Ok now I get it now. Yea you can run the tweeters off the other channel of the JL amp. The bad part is you will have to run the wires from that amp back up front depending on where you mount them. Where are you going to mount the tweeters? What tweeters are you think about?

Im going to either install them where the fairing mirrors use to be or on the dash door and the other side of the radio. I want the PRV TW400ti, but they are out of stock. Hopefully they will be back in stock soon.

Thanks so much for the guidance.

Keep in mind that once you drill holes in the fairing, there ain't no going back unless you replace the inner fairing. I have a set of Jarz pode where my mirrors were and a set of beyma sql 60 horns in them. No drilling holes and I can put stock mirrors back on if and when I need to. Not cheap but I just don't want to be married to horns in my fairing. Especially as the technology is constantly changing in the scooter audio world. Hell someone just may come out with a set of integrated coax that sound like your are sitting in front of live music. What the hell you going to do with those out dated horns in the fairing?
I would suggest putting them in the grills as you can remove them a bunch easier if needed.

Thanks for the input! Something to definitely think about because the game is always changing.

Thanks again,
Brian
