Ground for Amp
Do I have to pull the car over!!!
Gentlemen, used very loosely, need to relax, please. I have wired cars, boats, and some bikes, but not Harleys.
My Goldwing 1500 had more lights and LEDs than I ever want again. That one I could ground to a spot in the fairing which was grounded on the frame.
Different bikes, different experiences.
LET THE FLAMING BEGIN!!!

I think this place is great and can dish as well as i recieve. So keep up the fun banter and don't make it too personal.
Party on!!!
Who's fighting? Thread seems to have found a following and turned into flame session. IDK if ppl have opinions, just dont insult me for a lack of certain experiences.

No sir. The issue is people come and ask for advice. A half cocked shade tree with 27 minutes of YouTube experience gives bad advice that is an OPINION….
Myself, with decades of electrical experience and some silly degree in robotics offers actual fact, Juice with decades of mechanical and electrical experience offers facts, Bates with decades of mechanical and electrical experience offers facts, and T with decades of electrical and mechanical experience offers facts….
And the facts don’t match the opinions of someone with 27 minutes of YouTube experience but his opinion is easier to do than to follow the actual PROPER way to do the job to make a complete circuit carrying the amperage load…..
Soooo everyone gets butthurt because they wanna do it the easy way. Personally, like T said, we got no skin in the game. Do it how you want, let something catch fire, let all the money you spent sound like ****, whatever. I truly don’t care. I and other are simply giving you the truth but you’d rather have validation for the easy way.
Welcome to 2021, facts don’t matter anymore, I bet if you just tell the fairing to identify as the negative terminal of the battery it’ll work out fine. Good luck.

T said it well. No one here is selling you a product or concept. Just offer advice freely, gleaned from combined years of experience and lessons learned.
Ground where you feel is best for you.
Troubleshooting/ Noise....always ground the amps to a battery and never a frame

no one insulted you nor would they ever here, for lack of experience. But we see it too often. People ask for advice, then when you give it and it doesn't match what they already had in their head was "right" they don't like it or argue about it.

As for you engineers....Mechanical Engineering Degree from La Tech. Was better at AutoCad and being a C-130 Loadmaster.
We all have great backgrounds.
