Do different amps have different sound quality? Can you hear the difference? I have a JL XD 400/4 AMP & it sounds pretty good with my GZ yellow basket speakers.I know people are pushing these with the SD 800/4 amp but is it just loud or do you think you can hear a difference with different amps?

 

JL is prob one of the best sound quality in the business! So yes, many folks can indeed tell the difference in SQ fairly easy but in the sled audio environment the size to reasonable quality factor is weighted far heavier than just SQ. If I have amp space in a cage, or boat or buggy, it will be a JL if at all possible. A very efficient & warm amp. SD is just raw damn watts.

I've run five different amps on my sled so far. Each one seemed to play well in a certain area, not so well in others. I'd say if you are happy with what you got, unless you got plenty of cash to burn just go with it. I learned early on just making the system loud was not something I was satisfied with.
