Soundstream hd.14 help!
Post #2 may be a clue.....
that's a royal WE is it fella?
plenty of us brits riding with music coming out the fairing speakers. Wouldn't have needed to upgrade mine to get better quality otherwise!
Freewire is removed from the equation when you switch to a HDHU14
your headphones will be bluetoothed to your phone so you could have music/turn by turn in your ears...
However the moment you hook the USB up, it disables the BT for Android Auto use. You will lose the ability to mix and match (e.g turn by turn on fairing speakers / music on your headphones as you can do with GT 6.5 inFRUSTRATION system)
because Google Maps displays the easy to read turn by turn, left of screen, I never have my audio turn by turn on the fairing speakers (its muted when I'm on my bike) so I can continue listening to music.
Very easy to read at speed if you are on the motorway etc.
my SENA 20S EVO paired to my phone continues to handle calls. When an incoming call comes in, the head HU displays the name accept/reject. If you disconnect the USB and simply run BT only, then you could always get all the audio in your ears/answer calls
(but appreciate you don't get the maps on screen which is why you swapped the head unit out)
upgrading to an HDHU14 is a must IMHO over what you have
...Your Mileage May Vary
FYI 2017 FLHXS, ran it with the Freewire
then upgraded to the Sony XAV-AX7000 to get Android Auto
upgraded in March 22 to the Soundstream Reserve HDHU.14 to get better weather proofing and looks.

I'm in the UK and we dont tend to ride our bikes with music etc coming through the fairing speakers. On my 2017 Ultra Limited it is fitted with the stock Boombox 6.5 unit. When i ride, I use the Sena Freewire connected to the bikes intercom socket, which is then Bluetooth connected to my Schuberth helmet headphones. I connect my Samsung S20 'phone via Bluetooth to the bike's Boombox unit, which enables me to set volume, switch Spotify music tracks etc using the handlebar controls and it all works fine and listen to music, radio etc. The only problem is that the Boombox satnav is pants and so I'd like to swap out the Boombox 6.5 unit for the Soundstream HDHU.14 system with the handlebar control module and then use Android Auto for Google Maps, Waze etc on the head unit. Does anyone know how I can still retain my Bluetooth headphones for music, calls whilst using Android Auto on the Soundstream either with or without the Freewire?
