Default Harley Boom System Upgrade - Stage 1 and Stage 2

Hi all - quick question for the group on an upgrade to the Harley Boom system. I did not see this addressed elsewhere in the Forums.

I have a full Stage 1 Harley Boom setup on my 2017 Ultra. Four Harley Stage 1 speakers, and the Harley Boom Amp. I recently purchased a single set of the Boom Stage 2 speakers and an additional amp.

My question is can I put the Stage 2 speakers in my front fairing, and use the existing amp to power all 4 connections to the Stage 2 speakers, and then install the second amp to power the rear stage 1 speakers? Or do I need to purchase a second set of Stage 2 speakers before I install the front set? I ask, as the instructions for the Stage 2 speakers clearly state to NOT mix Stage 1 and Stage 2 speakers.

Thank you.

AFAIK you cannot mix and match Stage 1 and 2. All Stage 2 speakers are bi-amped (needs 2 amp channels per side) except for Stage 2 lowers in the Ultra. I'm not sure of the part numbers etc., but it might be possible to reuse that Boom! amp to power Stage 2 rear speakers (however that amp is mounted under the TP and requires specific Harley cables and mounting hardware). Go with what Harley tells you as most here on this forum don't use Boom! speakers or amps. Now, if you should choose to remove the Boom! amps and speakers there is a wealth of knowledge here to help you get vastly better sound for the buck (ask me how I know).

Thanks. I have heard loud and clear that after market is an overall better solution, but the full stage 1 kit was free, and the stage 2 kit was essentially so - I only need to find the cabling it appears after a bit of research. I'm sure this system will get sold at some point, but for now, with a purchase of a cable (250 new, or if I'm lucky enough to find one used a bit less), I'll have a pretty decent system. That said, I would be interested in what you ended up with and how happy you are with it....

I started out with upgrading the stock 4 speaker Boom! setup to a 4 speaker, 2 amp, Boom! II system. I bought this "upgrade" from the dealer and even though I ended up with a large amount of loyalty points from Harley and Visa I still consider it a huge waste of time and money. I ripped out the Boom II system and sold it after hearing what a decent setup on a touring bike sounded like. Selling it took a while but as P.T Barnum always said...

My setup is very modest in comparison to other setups you will find here. I went with a package from Biketronics some years ago. It has 6 speakers (2 each in fairing, lowers, and TP) with a 4x180W RMS amp. I chose this system as I figured I didn't need audiophile quality, just good quality sound easily heard at highway speeds. I also liked that it was easy to install, supported by a single company with a lifetime warranty, and didn't break the bank. Having said that you can get better quality at a lower price if you assemble the components yourself and are ok with slightly less convenience and a lesser warranty. The system has met every requirement I've had of it, has been reliable, and I'm happy with my choice.

Wish I had heard that bike and found this forum earlier but there it is.
