Default GPS and blue tooth

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but I'm looking for a gps for my flhtk that will work with my wired headset, but also wirelessly bluetooth pair with my phone. any tips? I got hit by a mini SUV, bike needs extensive work, but the new S&S hi-pro 100 hp motor with 3000 miles on it is fine (Literally a couple light scratches on the polished fins (PM me if you are intersted in the 87 flhtc)

The Zumo 550 wll work with bluetooth with your phone and thru a ear bud for directions as for music from it. I will also play music that you store in it thru blue tooth BUT it will not send it thru in Stereo thru your blue tooth head set. All the other Garmin Zumo GPS units made for bikes will work like the 550 but they will send the music thru in Stereo. ex. 600,660 and so on, not sure what the model numbers are, just that the Zumo series are made for motorcycles and there waterproof. I was my bike with mine on it with no problems. I have the 550 should of got the 600 or 660 can't remember. Just for the Stereo Music. I missed that part when I bought it si I use head phones plugged into the headphone jack on it thats all, then I can hear everything in Stereo, Directions and Music.

Wil the garmin 660 work as a hands free device when I have it in my car?

I dont think the Zumos have speakers on them. Being made for motorcycles it makes sence not to.To be able to hear them you would have to plug the headset outlet into car stereo or wires headset. Or you can wear an earbud for your phone and have it connect via bluetooth from the zumo to listen to the directions that way.

You can get a handlebar mounted speaker kit and enjoy your tunes as well as the gps prompts...

yes...it even comes with a car mount with a suction mount/sticker mount and cig adapter plug. I does have audio when in your car and actually switches to "Car Mode" when put into the car cradle (smaller buttons since you won't be wearing gloves, etc). I take mine along when I travel so I no longer have to pay for "Neverlost" when I rent a car. Easy as pie.

The external speakers work on your bike, but good luck hearing it...unless you are at a stop light or going REAL slow and aren't revving your pipes. For this reason, I insist on using my Scala headset as I don't like looking at it constantly for directions.

I've used the Zumo series 550 then the 660 and now the 665 and love them. If you are an extensive bike tourer...it's well worth paying the extra bucks for the features that make them motorcycle friendly...vibration resistant/waterproof/larger buttons, etc.

Just keep the maps updated like anything else.

All the Zumo's work with my Scala headset through bluetooth. So I'd have to assume, they'd work with any bluetooth headset. You can plug in (for music) to them, but am not sure if you can hear the directions that way. Good Question though!

The 600 series use stereo helmet speakers. 500 series and below are mono.

Not sure who you're sesponding to, but the Zumo's have an "internal" speaker and an audio out as well....not sure if the audio out allows you to hear the directions though as when I plug mine into my Scala...I hear my music (downloaded on a memory card inside the Zumo gps)

The Garmin Nuvi 855 I run on my bike has an FM transmitter so I can set it to transmit the prompts on a particular channel. Then it cuts in on my music to deliver the prompts through the bike or car speakers. It also has an internal speaker but that's pretty much useless.
