Default Upgrading the stereo....again

Hey guys I got the polk mm651 speakers in the fairing and the pbr300x2 on top of my sony deck...And its loud and awesome!...

Now i just got speaker lids, plan to get the mm691 speakers and here is where my issues start...Do i get another pbr300X2 or downgrade to the pbr300x4

And my concerns are this.
1. Can I get 2 amps in the fairing?
2. Would the heat level be to high?
3. I dont think the pbr300x4 will handle the 2.7 ohms of the polks, so thats a issue there, plus I want 600 watts instead of 300

Let the opinions fly and help me iron out what my plan is!

I'll go ahead and tell you UltraNutz will tell you to purchase the SoundStream, amp,
There are issues with the RF, the SS is 520 watts vs the RF at 300.
Also the RCA's are an issue here too, ask the experts here, I'm just a mouthpiece!

BIG NEGATIVE on the PBR300x4. Do you have a CB, iPod, or XM module now? If not, I'd get one of Scott's relocation brackets, put 1 amp on the top and the other underneath the radio. You'll be fine with heat as the x2 doesn't get anywhere near as hot as the x4 and it will compliment those MM691 speakers very well.

I'm in the process of building out another system using the Alpine PDX-V9 amp. Specs say 100x4 and 500x1 but the "birth" sheet from Alpine says 121x4 and 571x1. I'll be driving the MM691 lids with the 571. :-)

i was just looking around a bit and seen the SOUNDSTREAM® PN4.520D 4-CHANNEL

this looks like it may be a better option all together and then i could just sell my 300x2

Just a sony deck is all I have, no add on or anything else

I'll have just as much into buying either the SS or the RF....so 1 amp seems so much cleaner although id lose some watts...lol

Let me know if you decide to sell the x2. I have a use for it in my truck driving a single 10" sub.

1 amp = cleaner install for sure.

SS amp is perfect for these situations and produces no heat whatsoever. Spec-wise you lose about 60w of power going this route but IMO it's a better, harder-hitting amp.

RF is compact and the x2 can be double-stacked inside the fairing with the Sony headunit. The heat I really don't feel is going to be an issue with this amp either.

Which would I recommend, really it's a matter of preference here because they're both great amps. Here's something else I'll throw in the mix and I certainly won't recommend it because SS says no but.. I'm currently running the lids and rear pods off the rear channel of the amp wired in parallel at a 1.35 ohm load and the amp seems to be handling it perfectly fine with still no sign of heat or degradation of sound quality. Been running it this way for about 6 weeks now. When installing the LIDS, wired it up in this configuration for testing, connected my trickle charger to the battery and let her sit in the garage at about 1/2 volume for over 2 hours, no heat whatsoever. Just pointing this out for quality purposes only, again I don't recommend anyone do this or if you do, do it at your own risk. I just don't want anyone raising a stink with me cause I recommend it then it wind up toasting their amp

GP you and I don't know each other that well other than PMs of opinions and technical data (I learn from you too sir, just as others do from me) but one thing you and most others do know about me is I NEVER leave anything alone; always tinkering.

My thought process here is POWER to the lids. 500+w just to the lids sounded very enticing to me so I said WTF. My wife has her hobbies, I have mine. Mine unfortunately cost more than her hobbies do but she doesn't complain. Could be worse my man.. could be out chasing women and boozing it up.
