Unhappy Not Happy!!!

Had the Rockford Fosgate 4 Channel amp and speaker upgrade installed in my Ultra Limited this week. Picked it up Wednesday evening right when they were closing, it sounded great, much more clear, louder and with less distortion.

Threw in a cd and headed for home when about ten minutes later I lost all sound. Head unit still had power, all controls worked, just no sound on radio, cd, cb etc.

Faaaaaaaaaaaack!

Had to leave town the next day for a business trip so can't get it to the dealer until next week, so now I am just stewing over it!

WTF???

Anyone else have similar issues??? It has to be something simple like a fuse I would think.

Could be as simple as a fuse. If they ran power from the battery, which I'm sure they did, there should be a fuse under the seat for the amp, and another fuse on the amp itself.

I have a similar install (PBR300x4, T165 speakers in the fairing and T152 speakers in the tour pak) So far not problems at all, I did the install myself. A couple of things to check is first the fuse, second male sure power and ground wire is run to the battery (with 10 gauge wire, I used pure copper wires for both), make sure your connectors in the fairing are tightly connected. Set amp to HP, 4 channels, and gains are in the range of about 5 for front and rear.

Fuses blow for a reason, replacing the fuse will not fix the problem.

Exactly, if its a fuse I want to correct the root cause. Changing fuses every time I ride is not good! Guess I'll find out next week.

It was installed at the local dealership: Gail's and the speakers were the Rockford Fosgates

ah ok.. just making sure of the 4 ohm spec for this amp. we need to determine which fuse is blown before proceeding. Hopefully these clowns installed a fuse at the battery. there is also a fuse on the amp itself.

If the fuse that blew is at the battery, odds are there is a short somewhere in that battery wire.

if the fuse the blew is at the amp, then you might have an issue with the amp itself.

Can you tell me what fuse is blown?

I lost all sound with the PBR300x2 and it turned out the HU was dead. Ran my ipod direct to amp for a while with no problems.
