Default J&M 500W Amp with Boom speakers

I searched for this particular topic but did not find anything where someone only installed the amp and kept the HK head unit with Boom speakers. This is what I am considering but wonder am I correct in thinking that the extra power alone will make a big difference in the sound of my system. The 4 Boom speakers helped but I am still not satisfied because there are quite a few songs that distort before the stereo is loud enough for me. Thanks

That amp would destroy the Boom! speakers. The Boom! amp only puts out around 40 watts RMS a channel. If you want to stick with those speakers, the best amp, IMHO, would be the Hogtunes 40.4.

and to further that IMO.. if you want that J&M amp just replace the speakers while you're at it with something decent like the BT7P1 7.1" from Biketronics.

Do you guys know how much power my stock hk radio puts out? I was thinking 20 watts rms but I don't recall where I got that. Its a 2011 FLHTK.
