Default Bluetooth and Garmin GPS

Hey gang,

This week, I'm having a Sony headunit installed, which is bluetooth compatible.

I got a free GPS coming to me: Garmin 2497. This unit does have bluetooth compability.

Will I be able to connect the GPS to the headunit so that I can hear directions?

Thanks!

99.9% sure: NOPE... sorry.
BT support is to use Garmin as "handsfree" calling unit...

As UN mentioned, there are units out there that do what you want, but in general they are pricey...

I do not understand why GPS manufacturers make a simple 3.5 mm jack output on the device... plug in into HU and you are good to go.

Override of music of another source by GPS unit is a whole different story :-)
