lid speaker fabric - Rust-oleum neverwet outdoor fabric
wondering if anyone tried this.
get some speaker fabric, spray it with the stuff and "glue" within the speaker grill of the 6x9's in the lids (Hogtunes lid).
seems like would be cheaper than buying the hydrophobic fabric.
any ideas?

Works like a charm!!
The grill cloth is only 19 bucks + shipping. I use the grill cloth and this:
Amazon.com : Kiwi Camp Dry, Heavy Duty Water Repellent, 12oz : Insect Repellents : Sports & Outdoors

No Sir. . . Spray is very clear and it doesn't diminish or hamper the sound of the speaker in any way. Only thing is you have to spray it on and let it "Cure" for 24 to 48 hours before install. I been caught in downpours and this stuff works! I think Nutz mentioned it in another thread but you can only buy the Hydrophobic grill cloth from cycle sounds in sheets. . .I wish they would sell it by the roll. Every time I do a lid install for someone I have to get 6 sheets at a time to save on the shipping cost.
holy s@#$... shipping for 2 sheets 14 bucks UPS ground!!! ridiculous IMHO besides the fact they do not provide the size of the sheets...
Hence my "suggestion" of buying fabric on Ama or Bay by the yard and using the spray. the only thing I see is some are complaining in reviews that it is not true black (on the other hand, the HT lids are grills anyway.
probably going to try the speaker fabric / spray "attack" as well.
need something to keep myself busy.

ordered 36" x 70" speaker fabric and the spray mentioned.
worth seeing if it will work.
would you put the fabric between the speaker and the lid or on the inside of the grill? not sure if the tweeter on the pioneers fall within the cone (TBH I cannot recall it). as the HT lids have a "drain", I would prefer that (less visible as well I think). the grill will block most of the direct sun anyway... Here in Vegas.
once in, next week or so I will try out and report back.
If it works I got another "thing" to sell LOL....
