1999 fatboy hot starting problem
Hello all. Just picked up my buddies 99 fatboy with the evo engine. Cold starts fine. Enricher out full, one twist of the throttle and all is well. On the other hand after stopping for fuel about 15 minutes later had a hecl of a time starting it. First tried with no enricher or throttle, then a little of both. Finaly got it going. After about ten minutes into this ride it started breaking up like it needed fuel. Finaly cleared up after revving it for a while. This bike was sitting for about a year as the dude bought a new bike. Think it's time to clean the petcock? I haven't mentioned it to him yet. He bought the bike new in 99 and babies all his stuff. I have a 04 sportster and always starts great. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong. Thanks

Reroute the fuel line away from the cylinder heads, fuel is heating up and vapor locking. On my twin cam and wife's evo had to run new fuel lines from the petcock down towards the bottom of the cylinders and then up to the carb.
