I have a 1999 Fatboy, I hear you shouldn't twist the throttle when starting, but the bike gust doesn't turn over without a few twists while its cranking.
Should I just stick with whats working, or is something wrong?
Mine also needs one twist before starting if it's really cold (30s). Otherwise not needed. If you have to do it all the time, you probably need to check the choke.
Mine is carb'd and I just pull the choke wide open and it the start button and it starts up. Maybe the first time I start it after the winter each spring I have to give the throttle a little twist while cranking to get it to fire.
Every carb bike is different. They all have their different personalities and different temperament. Do whatever has been working. I have 3 carb bikes and none of them start the same.
