I'm no expert and I only bought one Harley new . Just happens to be the bike you are looking at.. It list for 18349 black and 18749 for red. your bike via Kelly blue book trade in value is 4595. So that means your OTD price is 18741 with the pipes and engine guard. Don't forget freight and dealer prep and tax. If your getting all that for 18741 I would call that a Great price!!! I should have bought mine in Iowa.. Good luck its a great bike I cant wait for spring!!!!swifty
Well, I think shopping for the OTD price is the way to shop, BUT its difficult to tell what the actual deal is when on a national/world wide forum. To me, OTD includes all options, prep, freight, all dealer fees, doc fees, state fees, licensing fees, the sales tax, anything and everything it takes to ride the bike away. The difference in sales tax from state to state could make the OTD numbers vary by hundreds of dollars. If you're in a sales tax free state, it looks like you're paying pretty much full price for the new bike & the dealer is throwing in the pipes, safety bar & all the fees at no cost. The same OTD price in a state with a 6% sales tax means the dealer is doing the same thing, plus taking an another $800+ off the price of the bike. That's what makes comparing OTD prices on this forum difficult.
If that includes everything (tax, prep, freight, etc.) and is truly the OTD price, it looks like a very fair deal. I would try to get them to throw in the 1k service. SJ Ron
You could call around to some other dealers and shop around a little bit to see what kind of numbers they can come up with. Of course they're going to tell you they can't really give you any numbers without bringing your bike in and taking a look at it, but maybe you can get a rough idea. Theres plenty of dealers around within a couple hours from cedar rapids. Also if you're not set on a brand new bike you can always find a nice used one without very many miles and some nice add ons already on them. Plus the 1k service would already be done. I could give you a list of dealers if you need one.
Just as a price point I got my 2014 for $20,500 otd they valued my 09 nightster @ about 5000, I owed 4750 on it. Sales tax in pa is 6%
It included:
Morocco Gold Paint
Security
Mustache Crash Bar
repair manual
1k service
GAP insurance
The sales manager asked me if I felt bad about what a good deal it was. I told him no because even though they may have sold it 2k under msrp I may just buy 5 or so bikes from them in my lifetime if the deals are good. If the dealer doesn't make enough money on the bike they won't sell. It's a simple #s game.
I have shopped around some and the price appears to be competitive with the other dealers. I just wanted to make sure they all were not trying to hose me too bad.
I plan to go visit again Saturday and see how it goes.
