Default Building a Bobber-Where to start?

I've been doing some research online about what is
available out there to build a bobber, and it does not seem like
there's a lot of frame manufacturers or rolling chassis to choose from.
Can anyone point me in the right direction and offer some advice on
the best place to start. I'm pretty good with general wrenching, but
would need help with welding and paint. I'm prepared for a long term
project. Also, any recommendations on Harley vs S&S for the engine?
I know, a lot to ask, but any advice greatly appreciated!

First call Dept. Of Motor Vehicles and see what hoops you need to jump through to get it on the road.

Get you a V-Twin Manufacturing catalog. Lots of frames there. Also Ebay has some frames. I used a Kraft Tech frame with full VIN. It was a chore getting it registered in Oklahoma though.

I used Ultima engine and transmission. Was considerably less expensive than S&S. I did a little research and Ultima seems to be holding up pretty well. S&S is very good quality as is using a Harley donor.

Take your time find a good frame...good luck.

I would try to find #s matching basket case so you dont need to get a special constructon build. Sportster or Shovelhead are cool as hell.

+1 on Sporty builds. You can weld-on the hard tail and still use the original registration.
