Default tech support garage build

Hey all. I recently picked up a rolling chassis that i would like to complete ive chopped a couple buell/sportsters but this is my first big twin and the tranny primary situation has me a little intimidated so i wanted to start this thread to keep track of the build and asks questions as i run into them as opposed to starting a bunch off random annoying threads. I figured i would start by posting pics of what I have and ask a few questions.

1. this came with an ultima(gag) 5spd evo style tranny with the starter support plate cut off i plan on getting the kicker kit and i want to get an open primary making this kick only not sure if any open primary will work or if i have to get one for kick only or what the deal is with that. I have a billet back plate (1.5" up front and 3.75" at the back) but not sure if its what i need for this application? im planning on running a chain to the rear wheel.

2. will a shovelhead motor bolt into this frame (fab is fine just need to know what to do) and if so will it work with that tranny and open primary?

3. 21 tooth sprocket up front 47 in rear good ratio??

i attached some photos(not sure if idid it correctly) i have more i will post next time.

thanks for any advice you can give

Ok.
Yes a shovel motor will fit into that frame.

The problem you will run into is finding your pulley ratio. I reccomended calling bdl or primo and try will set you up. The motor is going to use a different style of pulley than the transmission will. The transmission is an evo style so the main shaft is newer style than you engine crankshaft.

Put your kick start kit on the trans during mockup to allow yourself room

The primary area including the engine sprocket shaft for alternator Shovels and all big twin Evos is the same.
