Go to your local automotive paint and body shop supply house and get Wax and Grease remover. Its like Prepsol.I have used to remove large decals from fleet vehicles that are 10 years old and have been baking in the Florida sun. Its made to specificlly to remove any glue, tar, wax grease and whatever is stuck to your paint, it will not attack your paint, a cleaner followed a polish is all that is needed after.
