Default Scratch-X?

Hey all-
In doing some winter tinkering on the scoot, I've found a few scratches on the front fender and tank I need to take care of.

In searching the forum it seems that lots of folks seem to like Meguire's Scratch-X. Has anyone used both it and HD's scratch and swirl treatment and able to give a comparison of the two? I've already got the HD stuff, and wanted to get a feel for the differences between the two products before spedning money on something that might, or might not be, faily similar.

Thanks!

ScratchX should work fine....use foam pad and work the area only as much as needed. By that I mean dont try to scrub the paint as hard as you can..work to get a good feel of what pressure is needed. You will want to follow up with your HD product and then wax.
One note: When a product is called "swirl remover" it can be misleading. By remover they mean cover up. They are a non-abrasive product so they do no polishing (smoothing) action. They use oils in the product to fill in the defects. That will require you to follow up with wax as a sealant will not bond properly to a surface with oils.

I have used both. The Scratch X did a much better job taking care of some fine marks on my gas tank than the HD stuff did. The HD stuff seems like it does an ok job with VERY fine marks, but that is about it. Agreed with the other poster to use a high quality wax after you use the scratch x, I like the s100 paste wax myself.

I have used Scratch-X, not the HD stuff, and it works good. I have also used Scratch Out by Kit. It works just as good, IMHO, but is quite a bit cheaper. I have used it many times with good results. For most jobs, I will use my Porter Cable. But the Scratch Out and Scratch-X are good for small jobs.
