USB power wire - dumb question
A battery tender connector is not the same as a USB connector. A battery tender connector is nothing but a pair of wires and a socket. A USB adapter is an electronic circuit with components inside.
A USB adapter draws around 150 mW when nothing is connected. Newer, higher quality types that are 5-Star EnergyStar compliant draw no more than 50 mW. This is why your smartphone gives you a beep and displays: "Phone is fully charged. Please disconnect charger".

Unbelievable responses,
Yes they do, No they don't, Yes, No, Yes, No,,(?)
Cut to the chase and ask the people that supply the thing.
Truth is some do, some don't.
You won't know asking here what kind of USB cable adapter your going to buy.
ASK the seller.
Short answer, if it's cheap Chinese over-seas on-line only marketing crap, your going to have issues.

I have one of the USB to battery tender connection adapters like what DesertDyna linked to. Cheap, and it works great. Just disconnect it and throw it in a saddlebag when not used.
I run my battery tender connection around under the seat and it comes out by the fuse box cover. I can plug in the adapter and run the phone charger cord back to the saddlebag, and charge my phone while cruising down the road.
