Default Project black

About halfway done with my blacken up project. On top of the normal trees and sliders, I did tappet covers, horn, belt guard, headlamp, bars, both side covers, dash, derby cover, and something else I likely can't think of at the moment. Bars are Carlini original drag 1.25" dia 7"/7", got a Dakota digital blue gauge with black bezel to go with the black flush mount fuel gauge and cap. So far not bad other than pulling wire through the bars was a giant pita. Ended up having to repin and house all the bar controls. Pics of progress. Lots left to do. Hope to finish tonight.

Paint on letters didn't quite go as easy as thought. Needs some TouchUp.

Looking good! What did you use to paint the letters on? I was thinking maybe a paint marker might work...? Those the flush mount HD cap & gauge?

All powder. Finding out the hard way it can get in areas that you didn't want it to and have to clean it off. Was even masked off in some areas but its thicker than I anticipated. The groove for my headlamp retainer cord has been a huge pita. Controls are mounted and grips are on. Once headlamp is in just need to mount tank and dash and adjust clutch. Then should be ready after I fill the tank. Excited to see the Dakota Digital in action. I'll have to get power to the stock gauge to get my milage to know what to input to the DD.
Yes they are HD flush mount. I used HD touch up paint in a bottle. $7. Used some paint brushes the wife has for painting acrylic paintings/artwork.

Almost there. This js jack has been awsome. I did run one ratchet strap to be safe but this is one stable well built sob.

Bucket looks much better black.

No I paid a place to do it. Ran just under $500. All is together and ready except fender and side covers. Going to get fuel now and have to set milage in new guage.

Before

After

All together project consisted of removal, powder coating, and install of carlini drag bars, upper and lower tree including fork tube caps and stem cap, fork sliders and dust boot caps, both side tins, tappet covers, headlamp bucket and mounting block, belt guard, cowbell and bracket, dash, and derby cover. Also installed HD Flush mount fuel gauge and fuel cap, and a Dakota Digital speedo/tach and some poly bushings for the new bars. Reused the kuryakn ISO grips as they were in good shape and didn't want to spend more $ on grips when mine were fine to re use. Impossible to get the wiring with the housing around the weld joint of the carlini bars. Had to Repin all 9 wires and new housings. Overall not bad but time consuming to do. Front forks were rebuilt fully and got 10w amsoil shock therapy.
