Yes I'm a Noob.....first time on the forum, first time Harley owner, 2014 street bob, matte black, in the process of getting rid of 99% of the chrome, bought it with 4200 miles about a month ago. Absolutely addicted to it, love riding it, and in Northern MN it's been a chilly spring been riding in Temps averaging from 30-70 so far. Anyways got a few trips planned for this year one to the east coast and one to the midwest, just found out about a etims feature that is suppose to be on most models since 08. What I read anyways. Now the manual says that most come disabled but can be enabled by the dealer. But doesn't say for sure if it's a feature this bike has. Now I seen a thread on here for touring models but if there is one for my bike or if someone could shed light on the subject for me that would be great, because the trips are in June and august, just want to play it safe so I don't burn it up. If someone could give me an idea how to do it myself to enable it that would be even better. Thanks

 

As far as I know thats only a touring feature. A good tune will help the engine run cooler though

 

Yea I got it from the dealer who just did the 5k on it. Running 20w50 in it so hope it does the trick, just wasn't sure if it was equipped with it or not because of what I read in the manual and everything. Also a friend with a street glide asked if I had that feature and that was the first I heard of it. Thanks

 

Pretty sure by "a good tune" he meant an ECM tune, not a tune up. Changing the EPA mandated overly-lean fuel management to something more performance orientated will richen up the mixture and reduce the operating temps...

 

you can enable it with a power vision and probably other tuners. I don't believe it is enabled by default on the dynas

That bike does have the capability but trust me it doesn't help much, it's actually more of a pita when it kicks in. Mine is disabled now! So if your going to get a tuner fine just don't get it for eitms alone.

 

Leave it disabled, doesn't do jack other then make your bike shake more when you are stopped at a light IMO.
