I have an 09 fatbob w the bar and shield and letter opener for tank badges. My wife has a 15 street Bob that has the raised HD (spelt out) badge. I really really like her badge more than mine.

How hard would it be to get mine off a denim black tank and put on badges like hers? Are the badges flexible and adhesive backed or something different?

Also- where can I get badges? Do I have to order OEM badges or are they the same as the badges dealers sell for, say the back window of your truck?

I'm also open to other suggestions for badges. I just don't care for mine...but id want a badge - not a sticker or airbrush.

 

The badges are adhesive backed and can be taken off. You can use some light fishing line and carefully work it like dental floss between the badge and the tank. A little heat might help loosen up the glue if it's really stuck.
You might find out that when you remove badges that have been on denim paint that the area under them is darker than the rest of the tank.

 

You can remove the old ones as stated above and as also stated above, more than likely there will be a shadow left behind because of the denim paint. The new badges can be ordered from your Dealer or you may be able to find them for sale on E-bay. They attach with 3-M double sided tape. The tank badges have a curve in them so NO they are not the same thing as the ones that you attach to the window of your pick-up. Just about any HD badge from any year will fit on the bike so you can look around.
