Default 1995 FXDWG Transmission Vent Tube - Best Practices

I've been reading threads about the little 'J-shaped' vent tube and wondering with the acceptable 'best practices' are for this little critter.

I build some racing/pulling Vtwins and when I vent these engines, they either run to a puke can or at least get a little crankcase breather.

Just wondering if mine is in the right orientation and also if it's worth rerouting it to a better location so it points downwards and away from the bike to prevent misting the machine...

Thanks for your advice.

Mine lays flat (sideways) against the inner primary. To the best of my knowledge, that's how it was shipped. I'm the second owner and the primary was never opened up by the 1st.

BEST practice is probably to run it to a remote filter. However, mine has never misted, let alone dripped.

I had a 95 Wide Glide and the vent tube on my transmission never dripped any oil out of to the best of my recollection.
