Default Help with pillion

Hey guys,

When I picked up my used '15 street Bob, the owner threw in the Harley passenger pillion. He said he lost some screw that I could just pick up from the hardware store needed to install it. Well in trying fit the seat, I'm confused. Harley's instructions are a mess.

A) how do you even attach the seat? Seemed to not fit.

B) what screw do I need? All I have for the entire seat is what I have pictured.

If anyone could help this poor bastard out, it's greatly appreciated.

This hole goes over the nut below, might require a little forward motion of the pillon to get it to drop onto the bolt head and then slide back into the groove.

See that plastic plug in your fender? You have to pop that out from under the fender,, then the funny thing with the threads and "C" clip on the floor next to your pillion (the Fender Seat Nut) goes into that hole,, the "C" clip is placed back on the nut under the fender and holds it in place.
The pillion drops onto the stud holding your seat down,, then,,
The "screw" you don't have is the one that goes through the tab at the back of the pillion into that nut you just installed on your fender.
You need to take the Fender Seat nut to the hardware store and get a bolt that goes into it, it doesn't need to be very long at all.

Thanks man! Very helpful. Any idea what size bolt I need to secure the seat to that newly installed nut?

I believe its a 1/4"-20 at 1/2" long. If you google Harley Davidson Seat Bolt, you'll see options for thumb style ones that you can quickly remove the seat if desired.
