Default t-sport fairing spacing out the windshield

who has spaced out the windshield of thier t-sport fairing and did it make any difference. I have the jd customs with a 14" shield. I have been happy with the fairing but am always looking for things to improve. It seems like i see a lot of pics with the fairing sheild spaced out.

I know jd makes a anti buffeting kits that spaces out the fairing, but does it actually work?
Also, if you have done it, how much is it spaced out?
Also, who has tried diffent shield hieghts and how did you like it?

I have the jds anti buffetting kit and i think its works great! I also had a 14" windshield when i installed it and it definitely splits the wind around you nicer. I'm now running a 16.5" windshield with the anti-buffeting still installed and its a great set-up. I have no plans of changing anything..

how far is it spaced out?
was wondering if i can just use some sort of rubber bushing or maybe cut a hard plastic spacer to make one?

I made my own spacers from double walled rubber high pressure hose. Cut at an angle. Then bought longer bolts. I have maybe $3 into it.
