Default evo era tach on newer Dyna

Can I install an evo era tach on newer Dyna? Is there any difference on newer tachs vs older ones?

Yes you can if the tach can be programed for single fire input.. Just connect the tach lead to one of the primary wires.. Configure for single fire pulse.. Someone else mentioned that here..

Depends on the year of the newer Dyna. If it has canbus then you can't connect to a "signal" wire like the pre can bus bikes could

It's for a 2011 FXDC.

Can bus makes no difference.. Use Primary wire to the coil..

http://www.autometer.com/2-5-8-tacho...pro-cycle.html

Download the Manual.. Only issue is that you need to run wires back to the coil..

Not being a dick, but why do you want that? Why not get a current model Dyna to match your speedo?

Old tachs are cheap on eBay

So I can take an analog tach and put it to my coil? Doesn't matter what Ecu style to bike is running.

So everything I read was use the empty slot pin#3. But that didn't work on my auto meter tach. Then I went and searched for the digital signal wire but when hooked up I only got rpms up to 3k on my 5" auto meter tach

So what gives

Well I might take some parts of my old evo Dyna to my newer one and I'm just doing research for that.

Should be able to, but it really depends on the tack.. Obviously mode car ones won't work. They typically only go down to 4 cylinders.

Nope on the ECU. Jest need to count the right number of pulses.

There is a switch someplace that changes pulses per RPM to so the meter reads correctly.. Find it at Autometer..
