I had a similiar problem and didn't want to change my tail lights at all. What I ended up doing was getting a fixed sissy bar but putting a couple notches in it to make it much easier to get on or off.
A detachable sissy bar takes 30 seconds to take off. A fixed one takes about 40 minutes. A Notched fixed one takes about 5 minutes tops.
Not as quick but certainly acceptable.
If you're in England you might have more trouble finding parts, or you have to pay a crazy amount to get something imported.
Sideplates and a separate sissy bar for them might be cheaper to import, the one I have came in a very big box.
