Default how far have you went

I've got a 16 street bob and the fuel gauge sucks. From what I've read it comes with a 4.7 gal tank and should get around 39mpg. That's 183 miles on a tank. Does this seem correct and how many of you use you trip meter instead of the gauge?

Fuel gauge works great when it is full, other than that about worthless. I use a trip meter.
I am getting 47.5 mpg. Last fill up was at 176 miles and I still had about a gallon left. Range gauge last fill up read 235 miles.

The mileage you get depends a lot on your riding style and what kind of roads you usually take. Sounds like you're guessing it's 39, but you should calculate it exactly. Then when you fill up you'll have a better idea of how many more miles you can get based on the trip meter. The only time my gauge is accurate is when I fill the tank.

Out cruising... I have gotten over 200 miles out of a tank... but I new exactly where the next gas was. I'll start looking at 150, if I'm out cruising flat around 70-75.. If I'm pushing it.. I'll start looking around 130.. I usually get around 44mpg.
