FXDF solo seat getting re-stuffed
Many seat threads, I know...but I'm looking for specific info for a specific job. I'm getting my HD distressed brown solo seat re-padded and re-using stock seat cover. Period. I know there's a dozen other alternatives, but this is what I'm doing...question: use memory foam or gel insert? If gel, which works best? I get sore where the bottom of the hip bones contact the seat; no lower back problem, no tailbone problem. Anyone get inserts under a stock seat cover? My upholsterer has lots of M/C seat experience and will try whatever I want

I'd say use gel over memory foam. Never seen or heard of memory foam being used for motorcycle seats. I would think that once compressed, memory foam wouldn't offer much of an advantage over the stock material. I don't think it's dense enough for this application.
Saddlemen and other high quality seat manufacturers advertise "medical grade" gel inserts. I doubt they would tell you more than that.
