Default Tall T-Bars and Handling

I've been reading a lot about handlebars, since I'm about to buy some for my Fat Bob. One thing that keeps coming up in the reviews and threads about tall bars is that they handle great. I'm talking about either T-Bars or tall risers with MX bars or drag bars and the types of bars that are on what I've recently learned are called club-style bikes.

I haven't seen any in person yet, and I'm certainly no expert, but to me it seems like having your hands that far away from the triple trees would make control worse rather than better. There has to be something I'm missing or don't understand because the comments are always positive, the handling is always better. Does anyone remember being confused by this like I am, before they got to experience them?

I'm definitely ordering some San Diego bars from Lucky Daves tomorrow, I just need to figure out the height that I want. I'm 6'0" with average proportions. I'm getting a Saddlemen step-up seat, and mid-controls for the bike.

Thats a terrible design, with I’m sure crap welds to match. At the most that should be one piece bar, with welds at the risers only. Even stronger are one piece bars with clamping risers.

Lmao, brutal. I guess that's what happens when you buy something that was built down to a price, or in this case an eBay picture.

Check out the first picture in the second row. Are those special throttle cables to point downwards like that, or did someone modify them?

It's between the 14" and 12" San Diego bars. Does anyone know which lengths I will need for throttle, brake, and clutch? I can just measure them myself when I get the bars, but it would help a lot to avoid waiting on shipping during the short Canuckistan riding season.

IF I was going that route,I’d do the riser/MX bar thing. Non adjustable bars are a no go for me anyways.

Edit: Just seen that video. Lol! Dude man would’ve ate **** if that driveway was a curb I’m thinkin.

Yeah, he totally lucked out!

But if he hadn't, I'm sure those Mechanix gloves would saved him...

What started me down this rabbit hole was exactly that, video of a protaper MX bar on Hardcase Performance risers. Finally tracked down what they were called. I've definitely given some thought to the fact that if I put them on and the angle isn't right, there's not much I can do about it. The cons for that route are more cost and having to figure out all the different bends that the bars come in. There's enough video and pictures out there now of the San Diego bars that I feel like I can take a guess at what they'll be like, but I'll admit it's just a guess and I'm hoping for the best.

I like that fat bob you got there. Those are those zombi bars, aren't they? I think they look perfect on the wide front end. I'm a bit worried that the tall tbars will look odd on the wide front end of my fat bob, but really this is my first year with this bike and nothing about it is gonna look particularly awesome for a while yet.

Don't cheap out on your bars and you shouldn't have to worry about shitty welds. Say no to chinese eBay crap. 6'2", love my Lucky Daves San Diego bars, 14". Done plenty of abusive **** and have not had a single problem.
