I was wondering if anyone has any tips for getting the lower slider dust caps off. There is a notch in the slider where I have tried to knock them out as the service manual describesbut with NO LUCK. They seem to be on there so tight that they dont even move in the slightest. Am I missing something? Please help. I have a 06 FXDBI. Thanks.

 

i had the same problems with my caps on my 07 fxdb. I used a brass punch thati ground the end to fit in the little notch on the slider. it took a little effort to bust it loose, but once loose it come right off with no damage to the cap. to reinstall it, i used a 2x4 about a foot long and used to tap it back on the slider all the way, it kept the cap from getting beat up by the hammer.
