Default Fork Stem Cap Removal?

I wanted to remove the fork stem cap to go with the chrome upper nut fork covers on there that is part of the set that I recently purchased. The directions just say to remove it but how do you do this? The service manual says the same thing. Is this just something that pops off or something? I really don't want to scratch up the triple trees to get this cover off. Any suggestions or tricks in doing this appreciated.

Default RE: Fork Stem Cap Removal?

On my FXDWG I just grabbed it and turned counterclockwise and it screwed off.
