Default Ape Hangers

On my 05 wide glide I'm looking to add ape hangers at some point. I'm around 6'6, and am wondering if maybe 16 inch apes would be about right for me since I'm taller? Would I have to buy extended lines and cables?

Thanks guys.

You will be fine with 16’s. Your hands will not be above your shoulders.

I would be very surprised if you did not need new cables.

I'm 6' even and have 16" bars with 3" risers on my '17 FXDB and they are just about shoulder height for me and perfect. I am also running a BMC wall seat which I think drops me into the bike by 1". New cables were a must.

Thanks guys your bike looks good with the 16 apes.

As far as risers go, do I need those? I was thinking mine may already have them.

Can you get risers that lean the bars back toward you some?

Thanks.

I'm still learning, I'm trying to figure out if my bike already has risers or not. I'm not sure exactly what i'm looking for. Do they come on there from the factory?

I'm sure you have risers on your bike and unless there's a reason to, you shouldn't have to mess with them. I had to add an inch to mine because the bottom of my new bars wouldn't clear the fork bolts.

16's with 4in riser and I'm 6'6... Also a seat will make or break the comfort too... That one is a C&C seat., still breaking it in but I'm comfortable again.. Oh and ad at least a 20in backrest it will balance out the look and make Ol'lady comfortable too.

I'm 6'6... And comfortable...
Need to take a new pic with the 20in backrest on it.... Changed the look to me... Now maybe a motor upgrade?
