Weird starter issue
Went to start my ‘09 FXD this morning and I could just hear clicking from the relay.
Charged the battery, didn’t sort it.
Wasn’t dirty solenoid contacts either.
So I open up the right switch housing and wiggled the cable a bit, buttoned it back up and it started right up.
I’m keen to investigate so I don’t get stranded on it somewhere so what in the switchgear could’ve caused the relay to fire but not actually start?

Most trouble shooting experts will recommend going from the problem to the source. ie: Start with the clicking at the starter and make sure all connections are clean and tight. However, in your case you may have stumbled on it at the switch housing already. Maybe use Contact Cleaner and look for broken or frayed wires. Lots of times when the housing is open everything worked fine but then when buttoned up it puts pressure on the bad wire or connector.
