Default Help choosing torque wrench

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've needed to use a torque wrench but I'm putting on my pipes today and need to go pick one up. I assume one from Sears should be good, but is there one in particular that's going to be more useful long term than others?

Thanks!

1/2 over 3/8? I'd have to buy new sockets...

Is 1/2 really needed?

Cool, thanks.

They've got 21 different 3/8 wrenches listed, what are the important features to look for?

BTW, thanks for answering so quickly. =)

they all do really the same... some you hand set. some make a ratchet noise when torqed. some you have to real the dial. i like the kind that is auto and make a click when torqued. .bang for the buck, craftsman. snap on better, but more money. i see both on e-bay often. save some $$$ on e-bay really .

try tyler tool on line too. great deals, and a great place for many tools. i usually deal with them for my tools, drills, etc .

OK, cool, thanks!

I'm going to have to settle on Sears since I'm taking off work today to put on my new pipes. ;-)

Craftsman "clicker" types are pretty easy to use and a little more accurate than the beam types, although I have both in a 3/8" drive. If you're looking for a decent quality clicker type, Harbor Freight has a few that aren't too expensive. I have one of their 1/4" that reads in inch pounds which so far has been very good and seems to be a good quality, well put together. It was a whole lot less than the in. lb. clicker from Sears, but I stuck with Craftsman for the heavier duty use wrenches.

I like the Craftsman ratchiting type. You get what you pay for, so I wouldnt buy cheap.
