Default Dragin Pipes

I have about 7000 miles on an 07 Street Bob and live around and go find fun roads to ride. Only one problem with that. I have dragged my exhaust so much that I have rubbed a hole in my lower muffler. Has any one else had this issue with their bikes. I bought a new exhaust system that sits higher I was just not expecting to have to do it 7000 miles inon a new bikemaybe my pipes were not sitting right or the bracket was bent ? Any feedback?
Have had softails that floor boards drug but never stock exhaust.

Are the pipes long? Like V&H long shots?

You must really be doin some wheelin then...

I have a set of SEII slip ons on mine and have taken some pretty sharp turns where I live at speed and not scraped... I have ridden softails and scraped damn neart everything on the back of one.. pipes, pegs, foot boards esp. thats whyI went with the Dyna...

Dunno unless someone has really jacked with the rear spring settings or your a large rider.. or wereriding 2 up.. the Dynas are known for being able to out twisty most other cruising style bikes..

I have the same problem with my sb. Made my own pipes and I have scrapped them a couple times already...usually the pegs scrap first though, and they're highway cruise pegs. I don't think its a weight issue....I'm a lightweight and I scrap all kinds of stuff cornering hard. Pegs, primary, pipes, and I haven't even lowered my bike any. I think its just pushing the limit of how far you can go over without going bottom up. I did laugh when my buddy told me I was showering him with sparks coming off my mufflers one day, and said he could see daylight under the rear tire. I don't know about the rear tire off the ground though??

Later Fish.

welcome to feeling comfortable on your bike. i'm guessing that your primary is almost ground through also.have the same problem, and even worse now that the 11 inch progressives are on. gonna cut up my thunder header and reroute the lower primary right below the aircleaner and make it the upper primary. hopefully that will solve the issue. at least on the right side anyway.

I had my stock pipes do this before I went with the Pythons. I ride in SoCal and all the good roads have B*tchen tunrs. After going with the Pythons never hit the exhaust again. The stock sit low and even lower on SB or a bike that has been lowered.

I suggest getting some pipes that offer more clearance so that you can continue carving the turns.

I scraped my stock Wide Glide mufflers a couple weeks ago on a slow 25-35mph curve. I thought it was a peg at first, but checking the next morning the pegs were unscuffed, and the muffler had a patch on it.

I suggest getting a longer set of rear shocks. Contrary to popular belief, a long shock that actually works, will really improve your bike. I am not saying go 2" over stock but .5" and good tuning will probably cure up most of your scraping.

I just rode LoLo pass and was able to hit all but the most severe corners at 60+. If you don't know Idaho's Highway 12, it is 60 miles of really twisty road. I smoked all but the sportie's in our group, well there was a BMW in the group too and that sucker can corner.

Oh and Jerry Johnson hotsprings is fun when a carload of college girls show....WOO HOO.
