Default Fuel Gauge

Have any of you noticed that your fuel gauge is kinda loose in the tank? Mine seems like it could jump out one of these days going down the road, I can kinda rock it back and forth and notice a fairly large gap. If it comes out it could present me with Great ***** of Fire as the gas sprays back in a fine mist onto mymanliest of parts!

That ain't normal, Dude. My fuel gauge has always been tight as a drum.

I've heard stories of people trying to twist off the left side, thinking it's a fuel cap on a dual tank. I've never actually seen someone twisting on one at a dealership though, so that might just be an urban legend.

Either way, get that baby tightened back down

Its common, don't worry about it. Also, there is no fuel below that cap/gauge. Just an empty space with a hole in the bottom for the wiring to exit. Pull it straight up and have a look. Just don't twist it.
