Not trying to be funny, but what papers are you talking about? I thought I'd ask rather than wait until I'm stopped by LEO. I think in Illinois, it's just an insurance card since they have registration info in their computers. But when I travel... ?

I'm a Corporate Security Professional. NEVER, EVER, put registration or insurance docs in an easy to access place like on-bike bags or billet tubes. Same thing with keys - never put a tag with a home address on them. Scumbags look for this info, then they know exactly where to visit your ride when you're at work.
I keep mine in my wallet like most of the posters here. My wife tucks hers into her helmet liner.
