The right tire for the job
would the metzeler CruiseTec 200/55-17 be a good fit?

Planning to put 180 on my stock rim when I buy Metzler tires next. A 17" will not rub my fender so fat tire kit is unnecessary. This thread helps with the decision.

Welcome to the forum. Like Multihdrdr said, you're comparing a 18" to 17" tire. Also, if we knew what year and model bike you're talking about, that would help.
Also, the guy you're asking, fj4069, hasn't logged in on the forum in 13 years.
Let us know about what bike you're talking about. Lots of people around here that are happy to help.

I don't know much about the pre '06 dynas, sorry. I've only owned an '07 and a '12. Near as I can tell, all the pre '06 dynas had 16"x3" rear wheels, so I'm pretty sure a 180 series tire is going to be too wide for that 3" rim.
Edit: I just did some more searching around and it seems that a 150 series rear tire is as wide as you can go on that rim. Before you buy one please verify that. I'm not absolutely sure about it.
Good luck with whatever you do.
