whats up guys, im new to the hdforum and i cant seem to get the answer im looking for, can any of you or send me in the right direction? my question is i have an 05 night train, thats the 150 tire on 16x3.5 rim, im looking to run a 18x3.5 spoked wheel, what size tire can i run? any help would be awsome! thanks guys!
180... as said above need a diff rim to run a 200 safely.... DO NOT NEED A WIDE TIRE KIT!!! just make sure your turn sig wires are out of the way... i got it on my bike... LOVE IT... go with the metzler or avon... the SE dunlop does not last for CRAP!!!
would the metzeler CruiseTec 200/55-17 be a good fit?
put on a 180 55 17 last week onto stock rim on my 06 dyna. fits fine w/no fat tire kit from hd. waste of money.
Planning to put 180 on my stock rim when I buy Metzler tires next. A 17" will not rub my fender so fat tire kit is unnecessary. This thread helps with the decision.
Welcome to the forum. Like Multihdrdr said, you're comparing a 18" to 17" tire. Also, if we knew what year and model bike you're talking about, that would help.
Also, the guy you're asking, fj4069, hasn't logged in on the forum in 13 years.
Let us know about what bike you're talking about. Lots of people around here that are happy to help.
I don't know much about the pre '06 dynas, sorry. I've only owned an '07 and a '12. Near as I can tell, all the pre '06 dynas had 16"x3" rear wheels, so I'm pretty sure a 180 series tire is going to be too wide for that 3" rim.
Edit: I just did some more searching around and it seems that a 150 series rear tire is as wide as you can go on that rim. Before you buy one please verify that. I'm not absolutely sure about it.
