I didn't install that one,I bought the 4" Combination Speedometer/Tachometer - Color-Matched Lighting PN: 74735-07. It was simple to install. I bought it from Zanotti's for about $390.00 + shipping. I did It during the off season so I just told them my mileage, they needed it before they could order it.
I wanted to - but for 500 bucks??? AND - the dealer has to install it in order to calibrate the odometer... I said eff' all that....
The only calibration involved is the mileage, as far as I know. You just tell them what mileage you want on the odometer before they order it.
Installation on my 06 SG only took a few minutes.
I bought it from Chicago Harley online, they give 20% off so I paid $359 instead of the $449 listed price on the HD site.
You do not need a dealer to install it, in fact, Chicago Harley will send you an email asking you to call them and provide your current or anticipated mileage. They set it before it ships.
The speedo arrives with the mileage already set at whatever you tell them to set it at.
There is a legal explanation provided in the installation procedures that makes it all clear.
The installation took me about 20 minutes and I love it.
Twofish,
I installed that 4" speedo/Tach on my 06 street bob this week, works mighty nice. The Odometer remains lit while the bike is off, even says so on the instruction sheet.
