Default mufflers on Bob

I am getting my bob next week and want to change the exhaust. Dealer wants me to get H-D slip ons and download(noa/c) What aftermarket companys offer the best bang for the buck w/o having to do a download. Good chrome, good price and loud deep grumble(not deafening)Thanks Mako[sm=crossbonesgif.gif]

You will have to do something to re-tune the ecm on all fuel injected bikes. PCIII, TFI/DFO, FuelPAK or the SERT are the top programmers around here. And look up the cycle chack slip-ons.

A friend of mine is telling me to put the slip ons and deal w/ a little popping. The dealer says they have had great success w/ the 06 dyna download and can prove it on their dyno. They, like you , recommend the download no matter what. H-D dealer is offering 15% (about $190) for the pipes. I've listen to them and they sound good. How does cycle shack compare (price and sound)?

make sure you're getting the screaming eagle II slip ons, and not the harley slip ons. Big difference in volume.

As I stated in another thread, I'm currently running the stock air cleaner, the download and the screaming eagle II slip ons, and it's running great and sounding good.

I have heard phrom many people who have run slipons only without the download. As long as you don't put the AC on too, you should be alright. Course the dealer wants you to get the SE slipons, and the download..... and while your at it, let's put the SE AC on there too.[>:] Plus selling at it's phinest.

Cycle shacks are good mufflers. Cheaper then SE, louder then SE, not as bassy as SE though.

I dunno, at least with the '06 models, I think you'd be pretty lean with the slip ons, even with the stock ac. You're increasing the air flow a lot with any slip ons compared to the very restrictive stock mufflers.

I'm just saying what I heard. People have done it that way without problems. Not me! But some.

I have SEII slip ons and the SE a/c. I tried the DL and it was still too lean. I then got the power commander III and the bike runs awesome now. I wouldnt waste the money on the DL. I would put that money toward the PCIII. With the PCIII you will have a great deal of tunability for any pipe setup.
