Default Pining for the Glide...

My Super Glide Custom is in winter confinement <sigh> I have no winter storage at my hovel. She is a long 1 hour away. A couple of weekends ago I had my January supervised visitation. I polishedand & modified. My guru has taught me much in Harley's. He converted me from metric, say no more. Tomorrow, I complete the winter-mods. Sunday I will post updates, or Monday...depending on which is clearer...heh heh.

So it got me thinking, anyone else store their ride out of reach for the winter? and does it HURT more?

I don't mean to sound like a dickhole, but I ride all year long.

Mine's all the way across the other side of my house in the cold garage. It does hurt that we have to keep her out there, but the wife just wouldn't go the tire tracks on the living room carpet!
Yeah..I know...I'm a dickhole

You mentor should be complimented for converting you. It's never too late to be 'saved'.

You do not sound like a "dickhole" and it is great you can ride all year around.
But here where I live, for example, they put extremely heavy doses of rock salt
and gravel on the roads at any hint of snow or ice. They are also using a liquid
salt spray before the storms now which is very bad for vehicles. Someone who
applies it to the roads said to never ride thru it while is wet or it will work its
way into the seals etc. of any vehicle. The roads are white with salt until the spring
rains cleans it off.
So for me I have so much invested in my bike that I do not want to destroy it in
one winter (which is possible here in central PA).

Some will ride if the roads are dry and the salt is not liquid but I have done that before
and if you hit a wet spot you are still screwed.

It's cold here but I try to ride when ever I can. If I'm not riding it I'm wrenching on it. I grew up in Ohio and know the pain of putting your toys away for the winter. Good luck brother and I hope warm weather finds it's way to you soon.

I admit to being jealous of riding all year...if I could, I would. With that said, I finished MOST of my winter-mods and have spent hours detailing. The winter mods were; CHROME - battery cover, electrical covers, air cleaner flame medallion, upper and lower belt covers, mirrors with flame stems from Drag Specialties and I relocated the front directionals to the fork. I did not like the look of the rear directionals to the taillight, so I am returning that and going with the laydown license plate frame....Also picked up a LaPera 2 up seat and a Corbin solo seat. Not for nothing, but I cannot believe that HD puts seats on their bikes that damage the fender. The stock seat has rubbed the heck out of the paint....

Mine's put away for the Michigan winter. Too much salt on the roads for my taste, so I won't get mine out till the spring rains wash the roads off. I don't even keep my bike in my garage to work on through the winter, it's stored over at the brother-in-laws next to his. The way they poured my garage floor, there is no drain so all the snow that melts off the cars goes to the back of the garage, right where I would put my bike.
I could park outside, but who wants to scrape windows off every morning, so I get to clean salt from the cars and the floor every spring.

Ah, to live in a warm place!
