I think theres no need for a touring bike, i mean, for me the only touring bike that makes diferences is the electra glide ultra... if you are thinking of buying a road king just for touring and you allready have a dyna imo is a waste of money, just buy a detachable backrest and detachable windshield and detachable saddlebags like I did and you can turn your dyna into a touring bike in 3 minutes, take a look at this post where you can see some pics of my bike and you will see 2 diferents bikes in one. I hope It helps you.

I had my Low Rider made into a "mini-tour" bike for several years and yea it did the job. I had saddle bags 2 different kinds of sissy bars, and even a windshield (for about 10 minutes), etc ect, ect. Rode it to Sturgis fromMaryland 3 times. Now that all that stuff is off of it...it looks 100% better. Yea, you can use them astouring bikes butit's not the same.

This is what we do with Joe's 08 FXDWG, and we have a rather large t-bag, for even more storage.

There was so much wind coming up from under the windshield that it felt like my helmet was going to be pulled off & it beat my ears to death. I've tried adjusting the windshield to different positions to make it better & the best position that I could find was back in the box that it came in!
As soon as I can afford it, I'm adding a touring bike to my stabletoo. My wife wants me to get rid of a few other bikes first though.

I own a RoadKing and a StreetBob. I probably ride the Roadking 70% of the time. Much more comfortable, very nimble for a bike it's size and just seems to do more of what I want a bike to do. Love the StreetBob but I can't see commuting to work on it or going shopping, long trips, two up, etc...
